There's nothing like an accurate clump of arrows on a new target face - 110 scored with 12 arrows

Archery
Archery is a fairly recent addition to our activities but, having said that, we are very serious about it - it has become quite addictive. Our backyard range began at 35 yards with pegs every five yards up to the targets, which are FITA 60cm faces (about 2 feet across) the circle. The idea is that in a tournament, involving six rounds of six arrows, the archer, to begin with, must achieve a set score of 180 from the 36 arrows before moving to the next peg (5 yards back).
Archers start at 15 yards and work back to the patio (35 yards). Once a score of 180 is achieved from the patio things really get challenging working up to an arrow from each peg times six. We shall be extending our range to 50 yards in the near future and set up a 100 yard range over the winter.
We shoot barebow - in other words a simple bow, without any sights, stabilisers, release aids or cheating of any kind. We also shoot with wood arrows and feather fletchings. Many of us choose not even to use an arrow rest and shoot off the shelf or the hand.
We shoot one piece bows - recurves, longbows and flatbows. Some of us are getting seriously good, so next year we're going to beat you all.
