Hello there, my name is Robbie Dobson and I am the designer/author of the Springstone website. Since I have lived here for twenty-odd years - eating from the land, drinking from the spring - I consider myself part of the wildlife now, part of the ecosystem.
In some circles I am known as a drummer, in some a graphic designer, in others a writer. Some people even think I'm a builder (praise indeed!). In some places I am regarded as some alternative technology guru, others as a pain in the arse eco-warrior. Well, at least I've got what it takes to be me, eh?
Anyway, here's a little thought for you ... many people seem quite keen to pay six pounds per square yard for carpet whilst good land can be purchased for as little as 50 pence per square yard. Carpet is only half an inch thick, land is over six feet thick. Carpet will last only a few years, land will last pretty much for ever. Carpet will ultimately be harmful to the environment, the land is the environment.
And never, never forget that it's land that will feed your children. Carpet ... well, it will only give them asthma.
Please enjoy these brief wildlife pages but realise that none of it is possible without land and, of course, the simple earthworm.
